What to Expect
Before the initial clinical assessment appointment I will email you an Intake form for demographic information and an Informed Consent and Telehealth Consent form for online sessions. This will be completed before the 60 minute Initial Evaluation so that time during the evaluation can be maximized. I will be collecting a thorough history. Among some of the information I will be inquiring about includes identified stressors in your life that have led to emotional instability and lack of contentment, past psychiatric history and diagnoses if any, family history, medication review, medical history, perceived personality strengths and weaknesses, and what your treatment goals for therapy are. We will then formulate a treatment plan moving forward that will entail how often we meet, discussion of treatment approaches that will be utilized, and a consistent evaluation of how your treatment goals are progressing during our work together.
I approach therapy as a collaborative process between the client and the therapist. I specialize in evidence-based treatment approaches of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance Commitment Therapy. I also utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy, in my approach to couples therapy. I believe it is important to provide clients with appropriate coping tools while also seeking to explore and resolve underlying core beliefs to achieve successful treatment outcomes.
I feel that it is vital to establish a strong therapeutic alliance based on mutual respect between the client and therapist for meaningful therapy to take place. The clients that I have worked with over the years describe me as skillful, interactive, warm, and genuine with a good sense of humor.
